According to the World Travel & Tourism Council's (WTTC) 2025 Economic Impact Study recently shared in Shanghai, despite current economic headwinds, global tourism is projected to experience robust growth this year, with traveler spending expected to reach record levels. In China, the tourism industry is poised to achieve unprecedented growth.
According to the report, the tourism industry will continue to grow in 2025, generating a record-high $11.7 trillion for the global economy—equivalent to 10.3% of global GDP. Simultaneously, it will create 14 million jobs worldwide, bringing the total number of tourism-related jobs globally to 371 million—exceeding the entire population of the United States. International tourism spending is projected to reach a record $2.1 trillion, surpassing the previous peak of $1.9 trillion set in 2019 by $164 billion.
