The 2024 Top Ten Most Visitor-Friendly Cities in China were announced in Beijing on April 21. The cities are Chongqing, Harbin, Hangzhou, Luoyang, Suzhou, Chengdu, Haikou, Qingdao, Shanghai, and Qinhuangdao. Data indicates a significant positive correlation between a city's socioeconomic development level and domestic tourist satisfaction. Megacities and large cities consistently rank at the top of the satisfaction scale among sampled cities. For instance, among the 60 cities monitored annually by the China Tourism Academy, 9 megacities and 12 large cities achieved satisfactory tourist satisfaction levels. Among 24 prefecture-level cities, 70% saw improved visitor satisfaction compared to the previous year. Among 36 municipalities, provincial capitals, and sub-provincial cities, 32 achieved satisfactory levels.
