Statistics released by Haikou Customs on May 6 show that during this year's May Day holiday (May 1 to May 5), Haikou Customs supervised off-island duty-free shopping transactions totaling 510 million yuan (RMB, same below), with 79,100 shoppers.

Off-island duty-free shopping serves as Hainan's flagship tourism attraction. Currently evolving beyond a standalone retail experience, it is deeply integrating into the cultural tourism industry chain. During this year's May Day holiday, both government and businesses vigorously promoted traffic and sales to expand the “duty-free + cultural tourism” market.
