As of 8:00 a.m. on April 30, tickets for multiple destinations including Wuhan, Changsha, Fuzhou, Xiamen, and Qingdao were largely sold out across the Yangtze River Delta region. Railway authorities in the region anticipate transporting 3.65 million passengers on the 30th. To accommodate this demand, they will operate 418 additional passenger trains on top of the peak-period schedule, organize 399 high-speed trains to run in double-unit configurations, and add 101 conventional-speed rail cars.
The 2025 May Day holiday transportation period for the Yangtze River Delta railway system runs from April 29 to May 6, totaling eight days. During this period, the railway department anticipates transporting 28.8 million passengers, a 6% increase year-on-year, with an average daily passenger volume of 3.6 million. This is expected to set a new record for single-day passenger volume.
