Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee announced in Qatar on May 12 local time that holders of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passports are now eligible for visa-free entry to Qatar, with a maximum stay of 30 days. This arrangement offers greater convenience compared to the previous visa-on-arrival policy.

According to the Hong Kong SAR Government Information Services, Lee noted that following Hong Kong's earlier visa-free access for Qatari passport holders, Qatar has now relaxed entry requirements for Hong Kong SAR passport holders. He expressed hope for further deepening cooperation between Hong Kong and Qatar in economic, trade, tourism, and cultural sectors.
